Principal's Message
Hello, Lawler Lions! My name is Alicia Brooks. I am excited and honored to serve as your principal! I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. I also attended Nova Southeastern University, where I earned a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. I started teaching in 2003. From 2003-2012, I taught first, second, and third grade. In 2012, I was selected to serve as an elementary Assistant Principal and have served in that position for the past 4 1/2 years. I have been blessed to call Kentucky my home now for 3 years and am honored to be a member of the Lawler community. As your Principal, I aspire to exemplify excellence and promote positive standards to enhance the education of all students. I look forward to working with you to make this a positive and rewarding school year.

The mission of Lawler Elementary School is “Lead every day using the eight habits. Anything is possible when we do what is right.” In the most recent release of state testing data, Lawler earned Distinguished honors and was also named a School of Distinction, ranking it in the 95th percentile in the state. Lawler was also named a Leader in Me Lighthouse School by Franklin Covey Co., the culmination of a five-year process focusing on leadership, culture and academics. We are very proud of these accomplishments and will continue to maintain high expectations for your growth and achievement, along with providing opportunities for you to excel based on your individual skills and talents. Together we will learn and grow!

I truly believe that learning is greatest when home and school work collaboratively. We look forward to developing and strengthening home-school partnerships and encourage families to become involved in our school activities, including volunteering at the school, becoming part of our PTO program, or attending Parent Advisory Council meetings. Please know that my door is always open to you. I am available to assist you and your child throughout the year. Look for our monthly newsletter, check out our website, and follow us on Twitter to stay up-to-date on school events. It is our goal to provide a safe, efficient, and fun learning environment. If you ever have any questions and/or concerns about anything, please feel free to contact the school.

We hope you will join us on Thursday, August 3rd for our Back to School Night! Kindergarten will attend at 5:00 p.m. Grades 1-5 will attend at 6:00 p.m. School will start on Tuesday, August 8th. Preschool starts on Tuesday, August 15th. I can't wait to meet you!
