US Rep Brett Guthrie with Caneyville 5th graders
Caneyville 5th graders were thrilled to get a firsthand history lesson recently from 2nd District Rep. Brett Guthrie. GCHS Senior Dylan Geary is job shadowing the district’s communications role this trimester. See what he had to say about the visit at his elementary alma mater . . .  
Tessa Blain and Ann Decker
Tessa Blain has been selected by the Grayson County Retired Teachers Association as the countywide winner of the 2018-19 "Grandparent of the Year" essay contest, jointly sponsored by AARP Kentucky and the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association. See more and all winners . . .  
GCHS DECA on stage at State
GCHS DECA members exemplified the organization’s national theme, “Ready for It,” with outstanding State Conference performances. Nineteen students qualified for Nationals and three will attend the THRIVE academy for emerging leaders. DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC) will be held April 27 - 30 in Anaheim, California.  
Laney Newton receives ceremonial check from GCDC staff
Congratulations to GCHS senior Laney Newton, winner of the Grayson County Detention Center essay scholarship. A BIG thank you to GCDC staff for personally sponsoring this opportunity each year, as well as the herculean effort they give in making Senior Social such a memorable rite of passage. Thanks, also, to all the speakers, community and business partners who helped make it happen! 
Culinary Grant Winners
Turning dreams into dollars! Culinary students Gracyn Cook, Erika Khan, Chloe Cox and Josie Decker have been awarded a $1,000 grant from the AdCap (Adventure Capital) Youth Shark Tank style program to help kick start a staff lunch delivery pilot at GCHS, complete with a future mobile meals concept. Stay tuned for details . . . 
SkillsUSA medalists with awards
Grayson County Technology Center SkillsUSA competitors are headed to State, with top three finishes at Regional Conference in Carpentry, Welding, Machining and Automotive. 
Jonathan Nelson with KSBA members and plaque award
GCHS senior Jonathan Nelson received the Kentucky School Boards Association First Generation Scholarship during the KSBA Conference in Louisville, Feb 22 - 23. The $2,500 award is presented annually to one male and one female senior who is the first in their family to attend college. The scholarship is good to any two- or four-year college or university. 
GCHS Male Choir members
Choral students participated in the UK Male Chorus Day, a one-day event that features vocal sessions with UK’s college men’s choir, the school’s nationally acclaimed AcoUstiKats a cappella group, and a concert finale.
